atomi is the combination of andrew to mitsuko. And we are pleased to celebrate Earth Day on 22 April 2011 for the second time since the opening of atomi on 27th November 2009. On 22nd April, we are also celebrating andrew's birthday, whose birthday is also on Earth Day. On this day, we hope to raise awareness of sustainable retail activities and environmental preservation. 

 

We hope to create a market place where we bridge the ecological gap between the business, consumers and environment. We hope to bring in products that are environmental friendly, such as our Maruni furnitures, which not only conserved but also grow the rainforests. The maker plants back 1.2 trees back for every tree which they used. In this way, the net impact is a 20%growth of the rainforests. In addition, we are also bringing e-glasses, which are made out of recycled flouorescent light bulbs. All our products are timeless classic that can withstand the passage of time, thus reduce wastage and prevent the mentality of "buy and throw" when it's out of fashion.

 

Earth Day gives us a day of reflection on how our actions will impact our environment and on a business level, atomi hopes to bring in more products from responsible suppliers who use ecologically sustainable sources; at the same time, reduce the use of energy at both our boutique and home.

 

atomi'sphilosophy is to grow in a responsible and sustainable manner. This is just the beginning and we hope our friends, clients, suppliers and supporters can embark on the journey together with atomi to make our environment better.
